Mouth watering Bali cuisine that’ll leave you speechless

Heading out to a place abroad is incomplete without indulging in a culinary experience that’s nothing like home.

Bali is a great place for fine dining as there is a healthy infusion of spices and condiments from all around the world. That being said, it also just so happens to be a budget travellers paradise. Here are some of the local dishes you should consider giving a try. If you’re low on budget and high on appetite.

Gado-Gado

A popular choice for exploring Balinese cuisine is gado-gado. It is a widely vegan dish that is served throughout Indonesia and can work as both the main event of a meal or as an accompanying side.

Nasi Goreng

Perhaps one of the main dishes that defines Balinese cuisine and is also a favourite throughout Indonesia is nasi goreng. Nasi goreng is simple but incredibly delicious.

As a result of its simplicity, it is an integral part of larger meals and it can be easily combined with other ingredients.

Martabak

One of Bali’s most popular dishes is the martabak; it is especially interesting because it is available in both a sweet and savory variety. Although the method of cooking and range of ingredients bear very little similarity, traditional martabak vendors will sell both the sweet and savory versions.

Nasi Jinggo

If you enjoy eating like a local. Then this Bali staple will have you hooked. Nasi jinggo is a big part of the Bali locals’ daily lives. consisting of rice, vegetables. And a side dish and condiment wrapped together inside a banana leaf. Nasi jinggo is an affordable food alternative for locals and tourists alike. 

Usually, the side dish options are shredded chicken or egg. This particularly cheap eat in Bali is so widely available that you’ll spot sellers selling them off motorcycles.

Jaja Bali

For those with a sweet tooth, you cannot leave Bali without trying Jaja Bali. which is an assortment of kue (sweet treats) that hail from the island.

Depending on which market stalls you purchase it from. Some of the dressings you can expect include laklak (rice-flour muffins with grated coconut and drizzled with palm sugar caramel) or pisang rai (steamed banana with grated coconut).
