Serendipity Arts Festival to host its first edition in Goa

The Serendipity Arts Festival (SAF), an 8-day event, is scheduled to be held from December 16-23 in Goa. It is the brainchild of the 14 curators from various disciplines related to arts, culture and even food. SAF was created to be more than just a showcase of great Indian art.

It was meant to promote the exchanging of ideas and as a multi-disciplinary space for young India engage with arts on a greater level. The fest will celebrate diversity in art with a special focus on music, dance, theatre, crafts, visual arts, culinary arts and photography.

33 Global Artists – 40 Projects – 7 Disciplines

Over 40 exciting projects and exhibitions featuring famed artists from across the globe. Some renowned names like Kabi Raj LamaBandu ManamperiLisa Stertz, Escif, Billy Chang, SP Pushpakanthan and Paquito Gonzalees among others will be a part of the festival.

Some of the noteworthy projects include: 

The Spoken Word : A novel storytelling series featuring 3 different groups of artists. Koitso, a storyteller and traditional healer will retell Eight Bamboo Visions using mountain sounds and music. 16th-century Urdu oral storytelling art form – Dastangoi will be performed by Fouzia. Kommune is a group of Gen-Y Storytellers and Poets who use stories to educate the audience about real-life scenarios in today’s world. 

Open Site : An initiative towards dissolving geographical and social boundaries with the help of art. 4 Street artists from different countries will be enlivening the commonplaces in Panjim that are overlooked everyday. Their colourful additions will transform the urban space into a place of reflection

Satrangi : An experimental dance project showcasing 6 international dancers. It’s a unique collaboration of different techniques and styles – coming together to explore the cultures worldwide. International artists such as Billy Chang, Alesandra Seutin and Subhash Viman will be seen performing a dance routine, and Eugene Skeet will help compose music for the project.

Talatum : A Contemporary adaptation of the Shakespearean play Tempest curated By Anuradha Kapur And Lillete Dubey

Karavaan- The Gypsy Trail :  A fusion of flamboyant Indian folk traditions with Spanish Flamenco

Sandhi : Indian classical dancers and musicians brought together on the same platform to co-create a true depiction of creative collaborations.

Spread across 7 venues in Panjim

Goa’s incredibly diverse culture and history make it a natural space for creative exchange and conversations. 7 strategic venues across a 1.8 km stretch along river Mandovi have been chosen for SAF:

  1. The Adil Shah Palace
  2. Jardim Garcia D’ Orta
  3. Delhi Art Gallery
  4. Bandodkar Ground
  5. Kala Academy
  6. Old GMC and INOX Courtyard
  7. SAG Ground

With its close-knit networks and easy commute options, the festival that aims to be spread over a few places will be accessible to all. 

How to participate in SAF?

In order to visit the festival, you need to register on SAF’s website.   A unique code will be generated after every registration which will allow the person to have free access to all exhibitions, performances, merchandise stalls and food courts. Registrations for walk-ins are made possible at the venue itself. They also have an app compatible for both Android and iOS to get personalized updates. Entry for all of the shows except for Talatum is free. The tickets for the same can be bought from BookmyShow.
