A cold wet rainy day has no better cure than a hot and fresh Misal Pav in our very own Pune city. For the unenlightened, Misal Pav is a much-loved Maharashtrian curry made of potatoes, freshly made spice paste and sprouted beans. No points for guessing what it goes best with. Pav – Of course. (Although some places also use sliced bread)

Pune has its very own version of the Misal Pav, also called the Puneri Misal. So here are 8 places in Pune that serve the best Misal Pav that will make you want for more.

If you’re looking for the sweeter Puneri version of Misal Pav, then Bedekar is the place to be. Weirdly enough, here the Misal is served hot and fresh with sliced bread rather than the usual pav. But hey ! It tastes amazing nevertheless.

As the name suggests, Bedekar in Pune is also a great place to grab a cutting chai along with your main course.

If hygiene and clean Misal Pav is what you’re looking for then you can’t go wrong with Shri Krishna in Budhwar Peth. The misal here is known for its rich flavour and focus on leaving behind a long lasting aftertaste. Not to be mistaken for too pungent of course.

Highly recommended for first time Misal Pav eaters and foreign tourists. Also you’re free to choose between pao and sliced bread.

KataKirr is the perfect destination for those who have a very specific food combo in mind– they serve only misal and buttermilk. If you want to indulge in Kolhapuri misal but don’t want to burn the your tongue, you can ask them to lower the spicing.

As the name suggests, Ramnath caters to only Misal. In fact, it’s amongst the oldest misal joints in Pune, this is the place to go if you prefer the Kolhapuri style. The spicy misal here is topped with beans and fried poha. Don’t worry though, there’s plenty of buttermilk to cool your tongue with.

If you’re still not breathing flames after this, try the potato pakoras with red chutney.

Shri Kala snacks centre is a three decade old misal joint near the railway station. Their sumptuous misal is accompanied with a fresh chutney made from green chillies and coriander. Still not full? You can follow this up with a selection of sweets and buttermilk. Bon Appetit !

Cafe durga is a very popular choice among local students. Apart from their excellent misal pav, Cafe Durga also serves a variety of other dishes including idli, upma and all the possible maggi varieties of Misal you could possibly think of.

Another thing you should definitely try here is the thick,creamy cold coffee. No not like the onverprice CCD ones.

Misal 1984 is perhaps one of the most unique Misal stall in Pune. It has dahi, cheese and paneer versions of the usual Misal pav. As weird as it may sound, people are pretty big fans of their Misal.

Another fun trivia about this Pune joint is that it is also the only place where you’ll see Misal topped with a cherry ! How adorable.
