5 Unbelievable Beaches Close To The Goa-Karnataka Border

Are you looking forward to going down south of Goa? Are you in the mood to explore some quiet & serene beaches? Or perhaps you are wondering when was the last time you wandered and just let time do the same.

With hundreds of thousands of people visiting Goa’s beaches, it’s no surprise that one can get lost in the crowd (quite literally). Maybe it’s time to visit some of the southern beaches. Here are 5 magical and fascinating beaches close to the Goa-Karnataka border that you need to visit atleast once.

 

Palolem Beach

Who doesn’t know Palolem Beach? It’s also known as “Paradise Beach” for a reason. Palolem is about a 1.5 Kilometers long and it provides a seclusive yet serene scenery. Palolem is not very developed in terms of tourism compared to the beaches in North Goa. So if you are planning to stay over, then you may find yourself residing in some huts, enjoying a simple way of living.

This stretch of white sand dominates the southern coast of Goa. Although a few developments have taken place over the past few years, the beach still has a soothing aura to it. A large area of the beach now accommodates small shacks that taper off as you move towards the south. Dolphin cruises and fishing trips are the other popular attractions. These are offered at quite a reasonable rates until the peak season starts.   

 

Gokarna Beach

Gokarna is a small and remote coastal town in Karnataka. And It draws both pilgrims and joyous holidaymakers with equal enthusiasm.

Gokarna’s main attraction is its beaches, where people come to chill and soak up the sun for months at a time. As Gokarna is one of the most sacred holy towns for Hindus in south India, there are also a handful of important temples to see. A trip to Gokarna is highly recommended if you want to get a feel for what Goa was like in its heyday. Be quick though, as developers are already seeing the potential of this area.

Galgibaga Beach

Galgibaga Beach, also called Galgibagh, is a Goan beach that’s 20 kms away from the southern border. It is one of the lesser-known and unspoiled beaches in the state.

Located in the south of Goa. This is possibly the cleanest beach in the country and is seldom remembered for its gorgeous smooth silver sands; The two traits that you predominantly see only on island beaches and very rarely on mainland ones. Unlike the more crowded beaches of Goa, it is here that you will not even see a single shack or hut near the beach. There are only three restaurants close by.

Devbagh Beach

Devbagh is a small remote beach in Karwar. It is THE place to be if you love beaches. Sun, sand, surf, sea and endless open space, Devbagh is the next best thing to having a beach all to yourself. Between building sandcastles, combing the shore for seashells, endless beach volleyball games and relaxing,

You are free to just sit back and let the sea wash all your worries away. There’s also fishing, speed boat cruises rides and para-sailing are some of thrills that Devbagh offers.

And the best part? The well-received Devbagh Beach resort is right around the corner.

Tilmati Beach

Tilmati Beach in Karwar, Karnataka is an ideal place for picnicking. You can also plan to stay overnight by pitching a tent over the rocks or nearby hill.

The beach is covered with fine black sand that is unique to Tilmati. You can do fishing here seated on the rocks. Long Leisurely walks along the barren coast line can most certainly be a very soothing experience.
